Our Mission

"To build a forever home for individuals with developmental disabilities to live and work in an agricultural setting."

The vision for Heart of Montana Farm in the Dell began in 2016, when members of the local agricultural community and families of individuals with developmental disabilities came together to explore the idea of creating a safe and supportive environment where disabled adults could live and work independently. Their shared goal was to establish a space that combined meaningful agricultural work with a long-term, inclusive community setting.

For nearly one decade, Heart of Montana Farm in the Dell's Board of Directors has been working tirelessly to raise funds to construct a facility to house Central Montanas intellectually disabled adults. Without the increase in capacity provided by our proposed facilities, Central Montana's developmentally disabled adults will be forced to move to more densely populated areas in the state, assuming available spots. This distance can create emotional strain, disrupt support networks, and separate individuals from the community they know and love.

Thankfully, we have been awarded CDBG funding from the Montana Department of Commerce that will allow us to begin construction early in 2026. As we near completing our mission it is important to look at the next steps. Opening our home will certainly be a challenging process as we hire employees, adopt policies and procedures, and develop our financial stability. As we advance, we look forward to adopting a new mission, one that will carry us well into the future.
